You might re-read the post about the 1860 census in Dixon Precinct where Hannah Marshall, a 39 year old widow, is raising her Marshall children and a John Dixon. Later, two different Dixon boys live with her son and they are listed as “cousins”.
In the August 22, 1895 article, a Mr. Blackledge of Clay City, is in town visiting his mother, Mrs. Hannah Marshall. Our Hannah Marshall would be 74 years old and could have had another child shortly after the 1860 census. Or maybe one of her sons married a girl named Hannah?
