I’m not sure if the correspondent here is speaking of Joe Dixon (Sr.) or Joe Dixon (Jr.), not that it really matters. He says the farm of the Dixon’s and three other neighbors were...” a beauty to behold.” Remember that Joe was constructing a new house on the farm. I think Joe (Sr.) and Grace have returned from Jacksonville, but I can’t be sure.
The Joseph Etheridge mentioned is probably the father-in-law of Joe Dixon (Jr.)’s sister Hannah Eliza. One of the descendants of Hannah Dixon Etheridge is writing a book about the Dixon, Shaw (Grace Shaw!) and Etheridge branches of his family tree. I’ve seen a first draft, and he is a really good writer and experience genealogist. The Etheridge farm was literally next door to Dixon property.
