Road Supervisor

Joseph Dixon (Sr.) served as a road supervisor for Dixon Precinct. This was a voluntary, unpaid job. The job was to assess and report problems with the muddy, rutted roads and probably organize a neighborhood repair job when possible. There was no paving. In fact, the newspaper reports on the first hard surface sidewalks starting to go in on some sides of the courthouse square. He did not serve every year, or even most years, but seemed to take a turn every few years.

John Tait, in French Creek Precinct, later bought the farm next to Joseph Dixon and moved in next door.
