First mention of Dixon ancestors

This is the first newspaper documentation we have of our Dixon ancestors. Joseph Fremont Dixon, Sr., like his son, was known as “Joe Dixon “. He was George Dixon’s grandfather. He was willing, presumably, to be named as an alternate to the congressional convention of the Republican Party. The purpose of the meeting would be to choose the republican nominee for the upcoming election. This method was later replaced by the primary election method.
