John Fischer the Elder

Terry Harper of the Edwards County Historical Society sent me this picture at the same time as the 1894 picture posted earlier. I lost this one for a few days trying to file it in gmail. Both pictures show John Fischer, the father of John Fredrick Fisher, making the elder John the great grandfather of Della. John Fredrick was her grandfather. John Fredrick is in the 1928 picture. This picture is civil war era, if only because the lady’s dress matches those worn by Mrs. Lincoln at the time. John Fredrick wasn’t born until 1864. Actually, the 1894 picture and the 1928 picture show both men at the age of 80.  Fund those IRA’s kids!

Terry identifies the wife as Mary Anna Groff. John Fredrick Fisher (I think he actually spelled it Fischer too) was married to Elizabeth Walters (Rude’s mom) and later Alzada Castleberry. Note: There was a third wife! The source on John Fredrick’s wives is the FindaGrave site, which lists John Fredrick’s info, but does not have a picture of his marker at Bethel Cemetery in Ellery where Rude is buried. I need to update the Fischer family tree.
