This obituary appeared in the Albion newspaper when my grandfather died.
Obituaries can provide important historical documentation of family history.
This case illustrates that obituaries, especially in the old days, often contained factual as well as spelling errors. For example, the Thackers have become the Thatchers (a la Mark Twain) and my grandfather's brother Loren has become Warren (actual name of his son-in-law).
Obituaries in the old days may have been "phoned-in" or even dictated in person to a clerk in the newspaper office.
