This picture shows my grandfather George Dixon and three of his sisters. Left to right are Stella, Alice and Lucy.
From Curt Thacker's geneology of the Dixon family:
Joseph Freemont (Jr) 8/24//1864 - 9/28/1933
m 1) Mina Kershaw 12/8/1865 - 7/20/1901 (daughter of George&Farah Fearn Kershaw)
c Alice Ann 1/21/88-10/12/1976m Tom Wick 11/10/1912 (3 kids)
Stella May 10/8/1889-10/31-1943m Benjamin Frankland (6 kids)
Loren Ivan 7/17/1891-12/31/1909killed in hunting accident
Sadie Ray 11/6/1893-3/5/1935m Harry J Glover (4 kids)
Herman Hobart 8/8/1896 - 2/27-1907
George Dewey 9/5/1898 - 3/26/1982m Della May Fisher 10/13/1903-2/24/1992
Lucy Mina 2/23/1901 - ??/??/????m Carroll Perkins (4 kids)
From the information above, it's probable that the picture was taken after George's sister Sadie died in 1935. His only two brothers, Loren and Herman, both died at younger ages. Reviewing the geneology, I notice that Lucy Mina was born in late February 1901 and mother Mina Kershaw Dixon died July 20th of the same year. I don't know why. Lucy lived with her aunt until she was a teen.
George also had 4 step-siblings and I don't know anything about them at this time. Stepmother Kate Killets Dixon had four children before she married George's father Joe Dixon (J.F. Dixon, Jr.).
Uncle Don solved a mystery for me recently. Mom reminded me that we had relatives on the Dixon side of the family in Akron, but she couldn't remember who they were. She remembered that they would sometimes stop in Anderson and spend the night to break up the long drive from Akron to Albion. I remember meeting some Akron relatives at my grandparents home on Noble Street.
Uncle Don explains:
Aunt Stella and her husband, Uncle Ben (Frankland), lived in Akron, Oh and he worked for Firestone for a lot of yrs. All of their family also lived in the Akron area. Aunt Stella and Uncle Ben did get to Anderson occasionally but not very often.
