Can you tell that this beautiful lady is a Dixon? This is Faye (Perkins) Shaw, daughter of Lucy Dixon Perkins. Faye's mom was my grandfather George's baby sister. Faye fondly remembers Uncle George and Aunt Della, and enjoyed many visits in Albion with her cousins Wilma, Jerry, Jim and Don.
The Perkins family used to visit Anderson, and I'm pretty sure I met them once or twice a long time ago.
Faye shared several original photographs with me of my grandparents and their family and sat next to me during the morning in Albion.
One of the questions I had before going to Albion was who raised my grandfather and his sisters after their mother Mina died. The partial answer is that my grandfather's older sister, Alice, raised her younger brother and sisters. However, Lucy... Faye's mother... was sent to live with an aunt.... Lucy Hanks, and her husband. I believe that I found their final resting place near the other Dixon's at Ridge cemetery. I'll have to double-check with Faye.
Lucy rejoined her family as a young teenager.
Faye and her husband Leo Shaw farm (mostly corn and soybeans, but also a little sorghum... a family tradition). Leo is also a heavy equipment operator and they have a variety of large equipment items. Faye also represented Weight Watchers for 25 years.... she once lost 75 pounds herself. Wish I had known her earlier!
