Uncle Don says I made an appearance at his and Aunt Janet's wedding. I just don't remember!
Here's the detail Uncle Don sent with the pictures:
This is a picture (at top) taken when Jan and I were married at Noble St Church on 9/3/55. Jim's face is on the left by the trailer and Jerry is lifting Jan into the trailer. The two guys on the right were our friends. After we were loaded into the trailer, Jim and Jerry took us thru the uptown streets.
(Bottom picture) Jan and I are coming out of the church. Your Mother holding you on the left with Jay standing close by. Think that is Mother's head behind us. This was taken before the trailer picture.
I've not heard of this "trailering around town" tradition. And this trailer is more like a chariot than a trailor! This tradition must be a precursor to the "drive around town trailing tin cans and driving through Frisch's with horns blaring" tradition of the 70's.
Be sure to click on the pictures to enlarge them. You'll need to scroll a little, but it's worth the effort.
I just had to know more... so I asked. Here's Uncle Don's summary of their early years:
We met in 1953 and Jan's brother-in-law introduced her to me. Jan also lived in Anderson. I graduated in 1955 from GMI and we were married when I graduated that year. Prior to our marriage, Jan worked in the sales dept of Guide Lamp Div of GM but quit working shortly after we married. I worked at Delco-Remy Div of GM in Anderson on my 5th yr thesis program from 1955 to 1956. We lived in an apartment on East Lynne. I finished my thesis program in June 1956 and Uncle Sam drafted me for the Army in Oct 1956 since I had been deferred for my college education. I spent two years at Ft Leonard Wood, Mo and was very fortunate that I didn't have to serve in Korea.
