Having raised a mess of kids, Joe and Grace Dixon are still doing OK, according to this list of
“Wealthy Taxpayers” in the newspaper. At one time, the value for the Dixon’s was over $500, but kids cost money, right? The paper says that the figures given are 30 to 40 percent of the actual cash value.
Note the Fisher name in the left side column. That is an M.J. Fisher that I don’t believe to be related to our grandmother Della’s family. There is also an H.C. Fisher and the two are mentioned periodically as fruit growers, one of the newer and growing types of farming in the area. Who knows, maybe these guys were Rude Fisher’s “rich uncles”?
