A Narrow Escape

More like a miracle! The June 29, 1893 issue of The Albion Journal reports on an accident involving Mr. Frank Kellett and his 4 year old son. Mr. Kellett was cutting wheat with his binder (not sure, but probably horse drawn) and he sees his boy roll out from under the machine where the swath had been cut. And he lived to tell the story. The boy, that is. If he had no more accidents or did not succumb for other reasons, he would have become my grandfather’s step-brother after Joseph Dixon (Jr.) and Kate Green Kellett married. Both lost spouses several years prior to marrying.
