Loren and Herman Hobart Dixon, brothers of my grandfather George Dixon, died at relatively young ages. They are buried next to their parents in Ridge Cemetery. (None of the other siblings are buried in Ridge Cemetery.)
Loren died in a hunting accident at age 18 as he crossed a fenceline and the gun discharged.
Brother Herman died at the young age of 10 from complications of the measles. He was improving and the conclusion at the time was that he was up and about too soon and developed anuerysms.
I never heard my grandfather talk about these two brothers. His surviving siblings, all sisters, lived full lives and visited Anderson occasionally.
These tragic deaths, although rare in the history of Dixon ancestors, were not that unusual for the era. It's hard to imagine the impact that these deaths had on George and his family.
