This is my grandmother Della's maternal grandmother! My great-great-grandmother.
She qualifies as one of the most unique characters in family history if for no other reason than the fact that she had 12 children, including 2 that were born after her oldest child Marinda Bell Fisher gave birth to my grandmother Della.
And Gaby lived into her 80's to boot!
She lived in the Golden Gate area, eventually living with her daugher Mary in Golden Gate proper.
One of her great granddaughters, on our sojourn to the Fisher homestead, recalled how Grandma Gaby was sent for whenever one of the kids... Della or her sisters or one of their multitude of cousins... had an earache. Grandma Gaby smoked a pipe and she would blow smoke into their ear to relieve the earache!
The group picture features Gaby and some of her children. Seated left to right are Mary, Gabarella and Myrtle. Standing left to right are Ulysses, Martha, Ellen, Maude and Isacc. Unfortunately, her eldest daughter Marinda, my great grandmother, died from the 1919 flu outbreak before the picture was taken.
Lois Goodson of Albion had an extensive portfolio with pictures, articles and geneology details of the ancestors and descendents of Gabarella and her husband Ned Bell.
