Welcome to the Dixon family! If you were sent a link to this blog, it's because you are a member of our family. Whether your name is Dixon, or Thacker, or Sain, or one of many other last names, we believe you are a descendant of George and Della (Fisher) Dixon (or married to one).

George and Della, called "Mom" and "Pop" by their kids and their spouses, were my paternal grandparents. They lived in Anderson, Indiana during most of the 20th century, after leaving the southern Illinois town of Albion. They had four children... Wilma, Jerry, Jim and Don. They also had 13 grandchildren, including Rich, Curt, Tim, Jim, John, Jay, Lee, Todd, Bruce, Kent, Tonia, Joni and Cary. Any of these names ring a bell for you?

The blog will hopefully facilitate sharing of important family history. With the help of my cousin, Curt Thacker, our geneology leader, I hope to publish factual information about the family. With the help of everyone, I hope to publish many fond (and sometimes funny) rememberances. The blog is intended to spark memories and the retrieval of factual information, which can be published for our benefit and for that of future generations.

The blog is just an initial step in recording our family history. I hope to develop a "Wiki" to document this information in an easily accessible and searchable format. Curt, with the help of others, has recorded what is currently known of Dixon and Fisher (plus the Kershaw and Bell families... you'll see) family geneology. He has also kept up with our email addresses since we entered the internet age!

This blog will also be used to raise questions (that may be answered by other family members), and to share memories which will hopefully spark even more sharing. (For example, what's the scoop on Uncle Don the track star?)

I have some experience with blogging, and will be learning how to put together and manage a wiki. My daughter Sarah is an editor, but I'm not... so please be patient. Please leave a comment on the blog or email me if you have some information, a question, or a comment. You might have to register with Blogger to leave a comment, but it only takes seconds and shouldn' t cause you or your computer problems. You'll notice that Curt has left the first comment already. I automatically get an email notice when someone comments, so I can keep up with them as they come in.

You can also email information, including pictures, to gleedixon@gmail.com

So there are 13 grandchildren. Any idea how many great-grandchildren? Great-great-grandchildren? I know Grandpa Jerry had six grandchildren: Jenny, Harmony (husband Bill), Sarah (husband Derek), Lauren (fiancee Chris), Rachel (husband Chris) and Randy (fiance Deanna). Harmony and Bill have a son, Hayden, and Derek and I have two boys, Elliot and Zachery.

What about everyone else?
