Raising Boys

I don't want you to think we are the "blog family".

But my daugher Sarah Dixon Sain is writing a blog at the urging of her boss at the Gainesville Sun. Her most recent post about parental disagreement on discipline standards for little boys made me laugh!

It's called Raising Boys.

I like it because Sarah became an editor, at least so far, instead of a newspaper reporter. I always thought... me being her dad and all... that she was a good writer. As a copy editor, she edits articles, comes up with the headlines, and places articles on the page so everything fits. She was a yearbook editor in high school and interned at the LA Times one summer while in college. She works on the features section, so she gets advance news and copies of things like music CD's and movies!

The blog gives her a taste of writing and makes the boss happy at the same time. They publish her picture in the paper every week or so to advertise the blog, so I'm happy too!

My generation was all boys except for our beautiful cousins Joni and Tonia.

My dad Jerry's grandchildren included 5 girls and one boy. Randy wasn't the last grandchild to be born, but we were 4-0 girls at the time.

Now we're back to boys... so far! Sarah and her husband Derek have two!
